Short Essay on the Effects of Insecurity on Our Education System

link
INSECURITY AS A THREAT TO OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM  Have you ever wondered what children face when they are attacked in school? I assume you haven't. Such an occurrence will have several negative effects on the students, their school, and society in general. It is a case of insecurity. Insecurity is defined as a lack of safety or a state of danger in a society. It may also be seen as a feeling of uncertainty and anxiety about oneself. It is a great threat to our education system for several reasons.     First, it leads to the destruction of lives and property. People in the attacked schools may be kidnapped or even killed by terrorists and/or perpetrators. A common example would be the abduction of 276 Chibok schoolgirls that occurred in northeastern Nigeria. A number of these girls still haven't been released. Happenings like this leave a lifelong scar on them and their family; that is if they even make it out. School facilities are also frequently destroyed in these clashes. They

The date is Monday the 12th of October 2020.    The FCT Minister, Muhammad Bello, has ordered all schools in Abuja to resume academic activities on October 12. He also said boarding schools are to resume on Sunday, October 11. Guidelines for the reopening of schools have also been released, and officials and pupils are advised to comply with COVID-19 protocols once the schools reopen. The chairman of the FCT School Resumption Committee, Fatima Abdulrahman, stated students “will use the first week for revision and the second week to write the second term examinations which were suspended following the sudden closure of all schools at the onset of the pandemic”. She said the first term of the 2020/2021 session could be concluded on December 18, and  “this essentially means that there will be no third term in the 2019/2020 academic session.” She recommended that all public and personal colleges in FCT should put in place ad

Practical on Electrolysis of Water

Electrolysis of water Electrolysis of water is the decomposition of water into oxygen and hydrogen gas due to the passage of an   electric current. This technique can be used to make hydrogen gas, the main component of hydrogen fuel, and breathable oxygen gas, or can mix the two into oxyhydrogen, which is also usable as fuel, though more volatile and dangerous. It is also called water splitting. It ideally requires a potential difference of 1.23 volts to split water At home experiment: What You Need: 6-volt  or  9-volt  battery Two  alligator clip leads  or insulated wire Beaker  or glass Piece of thin cardboard or card stock Two #2 pencils Table Salt (NaCl) or Sodium hydroxide(NaOH; it can be dangerous) N.B: A salt is used to increase ions in water and improve its conductivity. Acid can be lethal What You Do: Note; do not use chlorinated water(including from waterboard) or copper electrodes for electrolysis of water, as dangerous chlorine gas is released. Fill the beaker or glass wi
